Legacy Advisors Ltd. (The Legacy) is a family-run Private Fund business. Their office is located in Central- which is the hub of all business activities in the territory. The Legacy has become our client back in October 2000 when the Media World (MW) was chosen as their designated IT contractor for their Central Office.

We’ve been through many stages with this client. From the beginning of the basic IT supports, to the advanced level of planning and implementation of a secured IT infrastructure with the coverage of the most comprehensive Disaster Recovery. Our partnership is still growing to this day- and even stronger…


In just a 3 months time-span, the MW has quickly built up their reputation and trusts by helping the Legacy to resolve some of their long existing glitches on the IT side. Our supports go way beyond what’s the other IT company will offer. We offer not only the hands-on supports- but also our passion and dedications towards our clients needs and to make a significant improvement to their business operations.

During this 3 months time we have archived the following:

MS Outlook

One of major significant improvements of which we have made for the Legacy is a tailor-made productivity methodology which helps to improve their overall productivity.

In November 2000, MW runs a 2 days workshop on Microsoft Outlook 97 training program to all Legacy’s employees. To better understand how they run the business, a research meeting was held in order to identify some of their performance shortfalls and to develop a tailor-made, both flexible and effective methodology that is suitable to the Legacy’s business needs.

After the training session. The client experienced a noticeable improvement in terms with the productivity and operational effectiveness.

Fax-2-Email

In January 2002, Due to the inflation of costing with the Maintenance of the fax machine and the fax paper, Our IT consultant has proposed the MW Fax-2-email solution to Legacy’s Board of Directors of which we believe is cost-effective and best value for money.

Understand their frustrations of the inflating operational costs, the MW Fax-2-email solution alleviate the needs of fax paper and the existent of machine by routing their faxes to a designated Fax number and transmitted to PC – via the internet. Furthermore, the MW Fax-2-Email solution will also provides the most flexible mobility to all staff. This effectively means that the users can now receive their faxes- literally any time, any where.

This solution was further enhanced in March 2004 when the MW helped the Legacy Advisors to setup their own Private Fax server within their own File server.



How Can We Help Our Clients To Maximize The Data Security And Integrity?

In order to maintain the highest level of integrity and consistency of the backup data as possible, our IT consultant has conducted a periodical IT review over the current backup configurations and planning structure in mid-2002. During this review, we have discovered that their backup server (which was purchased not long ago) was aging so quickly- which effectively putting the company’s critical data at risk.

Our remedies to this problem include a full upgrade of their existing backup server as well as launching an off-site backup solution as a redundant solution. Since our off-site backup requires a secured remote connection. This effectively provides a remote access gateway for the staff to remote access back to the office- which is an added value to the company, as well as to the employees.

Remote Access Solution

A remote access can provide a gateway from home to office, allowing staff to carry-on their urgent assignment at home outside the office hours.

In October 2002, our IT consultant came to full realization of the needs to implement a remote access solution to allow the Legacy’s board of director to access the file server remotely. This was done by establishing a secured VPN connection using the latest VPN firewall and remote connection technology.



Due to the extensive usage of accounting software at the Legacy office, we’ve provisioned our engineers (who are required to support this client) to complete relevant training from the software vendor to ensure that he effectively diagnose any software related problems.

At present, The Axys Finance Software and Peachtree Accounting 2004 are widely used by Legacy Office. Our IT consultant and the IT System Engineers have been extensively trained by the software vendors. They kept themselves up-to-date with the latest development to provide better service. The productivity software support includes general installation, software upgrades as well as problem solving.



In November 2003, due to the expansion of their hedge fund business and the increasing IT needs, we have migrated the Legacy’s File Server from NT 4 to Windows 2003. Prior to the migration was started. A quick checklist was conducted to ensure their existing software is backward compatible with the Windows 2003 server. In addition, our consultant has also evaluated some of their rudimentary software to see if it is feasible to upgrading.

Despite the project has already been completed, our continual research and competitive analysis are the ongoing process. This would allows us to deliver the most suitable and effective solution to our clients.

In November 2003, we have facilitated an office relocation project for Legacy Advisors. Prior to the date of relocation, our consultant has co-ordinated with the third parties service providers (such as PCCW) in terms of their technology requirements. Moreover, we have also helped them to facilitate the broadband migration, network setup and install the server rack back to the original settings.

By the end of this project, the MW has proven itself as an experienced, hassle-free IT Service Provider by offering our clients a complete IT solution. Thanks to the MW Competitive Analysis methodology, we can qualify the client’s needs at the most concise and accurate manner.



Disaster Recovery Project

In March 2006, our Research & Development team has developed a Real Time Disaster Recovery Technology- a technology that will allow our engineer to bring the server back to its normal operations in the event of a major server breaks down occurred.

To maximize the potential of this solution, some of the existing configuration such as VPN, Daily backup, Windows 2003 Server and the Exchange Server 2003 have been modified. The MW Disaster Recovery is a combination of real-time replication and synchronization technology allow the source File and Exchange server to synchronize their own data to a target file server (which is hosted in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia). If the client server breaks down, we can hook up the backup server in Australia within 4 -6 hours.

This latest technological development is extremely popular with our clients. Up to this point, our client’s feedbacks to this technology have been quite encouraging.


  
 

Over the past 6 years, The Legacy has enjoyed a world-class supports through the Media World. Thanks to our continual research and supports, we have helped the Legacy archived the following improvements on their technological requirements.
